Landon Turns 2!

I know, I know.. It's been too long- but life, as we know it in the Scaife house has been a little busy!

We decided to keep his birthday very low key this year but we also made sure it was special!

We started the morning by singing happy birthday to him when we got him out of his crib. He was very surprised and full of smiles! If you follow me on Instagram, you can watch the video! It's really cute!

He was screaming "di saur" when he saw  the chalkboard I had for him. He had a hearty breakfast with eggs, oatmeal and DONUTS with "spink" (sprinkles)!

Breakfast was followed by presents, dancing and some FaceTime with his aunt "she" (Shannon). After a full morning, lunch, nap and a nice walk, we headed to my parents for his birthday dinner!

My mom insisted on making him a birthday cake! It was her very first cake and she didn't sleep for 3 days! It turned out perfect! Simply amazing and he loved  it!!!

He just loved every moment of his birthday.. He loved having us sing happy Birthday to him and he figured out how to blow out his candles! So cute!!

He really loved every minute of his big day! It was so nice of my parents to make his birthday so great especially since we just had a baby and couldn't really have a big party!

After all the hoopla, he got deliriously cake wasted! He ate the entire tail all by himself...

He was so spoiled by his aunt & uncle!

A few days after his birthday party, we took him to a special event at a local park! They had a live dinosaur exhibit!

It was both mesmerizing and scary for him! He loved it and asked for more but was shaking all at the same time.

This exhibit was so neat! It was just a perfect experience for him.

And that's that. A week of amazing birthday shenanigans for my little guy! He is such a big boy and he's happy as can be!

And if you wonder what this guy got for his birthday... Everything dinosaur & a jet ski!

My 34th Birthday Weekend

This weekend we celebrated my GASP.. 34th Birthday. EEP! I remember thinking "30+ is old.." I'm OLD.

My husband decided to book a weekend getaway with our little family to Santa Barbara, CA. I was very excited because I've been talking about traveling to SB for about a year.

SB is such a pretty little town. We stayed at the Indigo Hotel. It's one of the few places that allow Dogs. We were a little shocked when we arrived. Our room was the size of Landon's nursery and the bathroom was the size of our closet... It was COZY.. but we made it work. After the shock wore off.. My husband took the baby and dogs on a walk so I could unpack and organize. I literally removed EVERYTHING from the room... I unplugged the phone and left it as a toy for Landon to play with and everything else (coffee maker, cups, glasses, papers, pens, etc) went into a bin and placed up high in our closet. I unpacked us and placed our luggage under the bed. We also put Landon's crib into the bathroom so Landon could have space to run around and sleep in privacy. We are pros when utilizing space.

Our first dinner was on the pier. We ate at the Harbor Restaurant.. it was pretty good! It was the perfect meal with beautiful views after a long day of traveling!

We took a stroll after dinner check out the town. Its SUCH a pretty little place.

This town is so quaint and lovely. We walked around that morning after breakfast before we headed to Butterfly beach (nicest beach in SB)

The second night, we got a little dressed up to have sushi at Arigato. Hands down... one of my New FAVORITE places for sushi. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu! they didn't have your usual rolls, but we were pleasantly surprised with their recommendations! We loved it! Landon loved it too! He had rice with Miso Soup, steamed gyoza and his go to roll is avocado with rice and seaweed.

On Sunday, we headed to Solvang. Its a little dutch town about 45 minutes away. It was the cutest little town EVER. Its filled with bakeries and little wine shops. I was so excited!

You see these little windmills everywhere!!

all the little shops, hotels and restaurants have these little photo booths everywhere. We took advantage of them whenever we could.

We saw a bunch of people walking around with viking hats. SO CUTE!

We had a romantic dinner at Root 246 at Hotel Corque. It had amazing reviews on Open Table. The food was very healthy and tasty too! I would recommend eating here instead of at a bakery.

The morning of my birthday, we had breakfast at the AMAZING Andersen's Danish Bakery & Restaurant.

We enjoyed Quiche and Danishes. Landon is into scrambled eggs right now.. he loves eggs with breakfast and he also loves fruit and bacon.

Another breakfast restaurant we enjoyed on our trip wasTupelo Junction Cafe. It also had high ratings on yelp, so we tried it out and LOVED it.

When we got home from our trip, my sister met as at BJ's Brewery for a Birthday pazookie.

33 was such an amazing year for me.. I can only hope 34 is just as adventurous. I wanted to personally thank my husband for such a sweet birthday weekend. It was exactly what I needed!

Madison's Ariel Birthday Party

Over the weekend, we attended a birthday party.. Landon's friend Madison turned 3.

Lets start with the invitation.. It was the cutest little invite! I love creative details! Even my husband smiled when he saw it!

The dessert bar was so adorable!!! We tried everything but the cake. It was delicious!

The cake was so intricate and vibrant!!

Her marshmallow pops were homemade and Landon got his first taste of sugary Marshmallows!!

So cute!

When I saw Sebastian on a cupcake, it brought back childhood memories!! Every detail of the party was so impressive!

Centerpieces were simple and perfect! A little gold fish in a bowl. It kept Landon interested while I ate tacos.. (They used the same taco guy from Landon's 1st birthday party!)

Landon enjoyed the fishing game. He kept going back to fish and clean up after the other children!

We also got him to finally go into a bounce house!  He ran back and forth and laughed! He's really learning how to interact with other children!!

After lunch, the birthday girl got dressed for her surprise!!! She was shocked to see Ariel!

This was the most impressive Ariel I've ever met!

All the children gathered around to hear a story. When Ariel started singing, Landon was mesmerized. He gave her a standing ovation and cheered. It was pretty funny!

Look at my kid walking around acting like he's interacting with the other children! So nosy!!

We had such an amazing time! Everyone was so nice and sweet!

Landon's birthday party!

We successfully threw Landon his 1st birthday party!! According to my husband, it was his first & last birthday party.. Yeah right!

Here are a few details of his party:

It started with a theme- we went with circus carnival theme! My sister and I immediately started pinning ideas on Pinterest! You can check out my board here.

I found the cutest idea for invitations.. And I customized my own- and added the same design for our envelopes.

I then ordered party decorations from oriental trade company and party city.. Some from target as well...

My first chalkboard sign! I got this board at Marshall's for $49.00. I used pastels instead of chalk for a more vibrant look. I also hung it in my breakfast nook so I can change the designs for holidays, seasons & special occasions!

The dessert table was my favorite! My sister put the table and desserts together! She made the birthday cake and cupcakes! I loved how the display turned out! She's so amazing at this stuff!! She filled jars with animal crackers, cotton candy, popcorn & peanuts!

The cupcakes had circus animals jumping through flames... Lol

I also made a yearly photo montage of Landon, I printed the photos from foxgram.com (3x3 with borders).. And bought this frame with chicken wore from Marshall's for $49... We put it in our living room and I will change it out as I go! It's a great way to display all my Instagram photos! I bought the mini clothes pins from target and michaels.

The drink table was set up by me! We served lemonade because it was perfect for a sunny day!

We knew very few people would drink so I got these ready made frozen daiquiris and margaritas from costco... They're so yummy! Especially the peach flavor! It's not strong at all... But they were festive! (Straws were also from my sister and she cut all the cute flags with Landon's name on it!)

The food table was filled with snacks, fruit & appetizers..

We set up his highchair next to the food table..Nothing too extravagant because we hired a taco guy.. I didn't want to spend my entire day in the kitchen!

See my taco guy. If you're in the OC area, you have to use my taco guy.. For a little extra bucks, he brings a lady who makes fresh tortillas by hand!! When the party ended, he packaged all the left overs for us!

I decorated the tables according to our color theme. Wrapped utensils with tickets & added center pieces with these cute circus mugs, flowers and Mylar balloons!

My sister made this adorable ticket booth! She's been saving this giant cardboard box for months! We got so many photos with it!! Landon was suppose to greet our first few guests, but he decided to nap the first hour of his party.

Outside in our garage we had a photo booth!! My best friend came and saved the day!! She set up the photo booth by hanging balloons up and we added cute decorations for dress up!

we had 4 stations of fun and simple carnival games.. My husband used our air compressor to quickly blow up our games.. I love these games!!! It's perfect as Landon grows and has play dates!

Landon was especially excited to play with his two friends- we were all pregnant with the almost the same due date (Kat and I shared a due date and Mary was due a few days after us!)

We let him enjoy his cake, he laughed when everyone sang happy birthday to him.. Then he really dug in! The cake was made by my sister! It was perfect!!

It was such a great birthday party and I'm so happy that everyone came to celebrate with him!

Thank you everyone who made it to celebrate Landon's Big 1st SoirĂ©e! He loved all his presents and is very blessed to have such loving family & friends!!

Happy birthday buddy!
