Over The Shoulder boulder holders...

who decided that Breastfeeding shouldn't be sexy??? I mean- you spend your whole life trying to stay sexy.. collecting victoria secret bras and lace thongs- but the minute you get pregnant, all that goes out the window and suddenly, its granny panties and droopy bras.. no wonder mothers feel fuddy duddy after their babes arrive...

what is the point of getting up and getting dressed if you have to put this on...

gross.

not only are nursing bras droopy and uncomfortable, they're not even flattering.

I bought 1 nursing bra after I had Landon.

the Gilligan & O'Malley® Women's Nursing Full Coverage Lace Bra from target.

this bra was mediocre at best.

Pros: it was semi flattering with underwire for us "non-volumptious" gals.
cons: the straps are too thick to wear tank tops and it doesn't provide cleavage... and it shows when you wear low cut tops... and because i'm not a full C cup, theres always a dent.

to add insult to injury, society makes us go back to work and some idiot invented this concoction:

aww- so we can multi-task.

such bull-shit RIGHT??

and then, this little baby was introduced...

The Arden Bra- is a sophisticated 2 in 1 bra!! It was designed by Emily Ironi- a nursing mom!!

it functions as a nursing bra and a hands free pumping bra! I CANNOT WAIT FOR IT TO ARRIVE!!

for those of you who follow me- you know that my office is my car. I pump twice a day in the back seat of my car... and when I have to pump, I have to usually remove my scrub top- remove my bra and hang onto dear life- while I pump for 15 minutes... its sooOoOo frustrating that most days I pray some cop taps on my car and tells me I'm doing something illegal.

So- how do you get one?? Check out the Arden Bra Kickstarter Campaign link The Arden all-in-one bra is priced at $68 and if you purchase one now through the Kickstarter Campaign you will get it for only $58!

Support your Breastfeeding mamas!!

must have products- 3 months

Well, we've reached month 3 and here is a basic rundown of our MUST have products!

***First is our Little Lamb Swing from Fisher-Price... what on earth would my husband do without this??? Landon LOVES his swing! He will take a 2-3 hour nap in it everyday. I and nervous for the day where he's too heavy to fit in it anymore!! It is a must have in our house and it sits perfectly in the corner of our living room!

***Our monitor- Summer Infant Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor is amazing! You can even hear him breathing!! I love that it is colored during the day and night vision at night! We did a lot of research on Baby Monitors and we use it EVERY night while he sleeps in his own room! Of course I sleep with the monitor RIGHT NEXT TO MY FACE- but he's sleeping longer hours and this monitor is A MUST!

***These Summer Infant Swaddleme blankets are AMAZING!!! They keep him super snug and safe! We loved his Swaddle blankets while he was smaller, but he started wiggling out of it and he was getting too long for them. Enter these amazing wraps and life was changing! sometimes I watch him (in the monitor) magically squirming out of them, but 95% of the time, he sleeps snug as a bug!

*** The Boppy Noggin Nest Head Support is a MUST have right now. We noticed Landon developing a little flat head. My friend had suggested we buy this pillow to help "prevent" flat head and we LOVE it! Its been a week and he's no longer sleeping on the left side. I ordered a second pillow so we could have 1 in his crib and 1 downstairs!

*** MAM baby teethers- I got one of these at my baby shower as a gift and when Landon was old enough to start holding his own toys and the minute he discovered his hands could go into his mouth, I gave him some toys. This item is awesome! He loves chewing on it and it's easy to hold! I got him a few different styles in the same brand!

***Well, Many moms recommended this Little Noses Saline Drops.. it works like a charm! you just put 1-2 drops into his nose and suck it out with the bulb. LOVE it!

*** Tiny Love On the Go Mobile I was very excited to get this item for his carseat! Unfortunately, it is too big for the Graco SnugRide 35... but we switched it out with his mobile on his Play Gym.. it plays music for 30 minutes and he lays there staring at it! As soon as he transitions into a regular stroller, I'm sure we can use it there too!

***Sassy Flip Grip Rattles Easy to grip and Easy to shake! They're lightweight and he loves them!

***Baby Einstein Neptune Soother OOOh my, we introduced this last week and WOW, HE LOVES IT! We are able to put him in his crib at 7-7:3-PM wide awake and he will just listen to the music, stare at the little objects moving and within 10 minutes, he's asleep! I love it!

***Cloud B Twilight Turtle This little guy is also in his crib with him. It's more for me so I can see him while I'm checking on him at night! It's also cute and the little lights that projects onto the walls are awesome!

***Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Deluxe Musical Mobile Gym Fisher-Price GOSH, when I went looking for Mobile Play Gyms, I REALLY stood there and checked out ALL the different gyms! THis particular one is a favorite and I cannot get enough of it! He Plays in this for at least an hour a day! I love that we can take it apart and travel with it!

Well, We love it and I hope that these items help out!

Push Presents and Must Have Products!

I suppose while I'm trying to give birth to my son and the nurse says,

"Ok sweetheart, we need a few good pushes. I know you're tired, what will it take to get this going?"

and my husband chimes in and says, "what do you want babe. anything... name it!"

and I scream "I. WANT. A. PRESENT." as the contraction kicks in and I give a push.

he says, "YES. a present. ok ok, I'll give you a present. now PUSH"...

I give another push...

then I SCREAM "DIAMONDS!!!! I WANT DIAMONDS!!!"

he says, "ok ok anything anything you want... just PUSH!!"

and then I forgot about wanting presents.. i just wanted the dr to come in and get the baby out... after I had him, I completely forgot about a push present...

a week went by, it was fathers day... a month went by, it was his birthday... then our 2 year wedding anniversary... I forgot about presents and focused on our little family.

Well, for our anniversary, I got to design some beautiful new wedding bands.. I've been wanting eternity bands! I have to wait until my finger returns to its normal size since I STILL can't remove my engagement ring!

so after 2 months... he took me and the baby to his favorite mall... South Coast Plaza... where this beauty entered my life. My first prada purse. I.LOVE.IT. he's the best!!

now onto products that I LOVE:

First off, it's very hard for me to get Landon interested in a pacifier. sometimes when he's desperate, he will take it from anyone... but its very rare.

here is an adorable video my sister took of him successfully taking a pacifier while she baby sat. It makes me laugh!!

So we tried a few different brands and our favorite Pacifier is actually the Philips Avent BPA free soothie. the same one you get at the hospital. they sell them at Babies R Us for $4.99 a pair. The blue ones are harder then the green ones for some reason.

He also LOVES his Sassy Letter Links!

we attach them to his Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Deluxe Musical Mobile Gym

He spends A LOT of time enjoying his gym! it's really cute watching him play!

I also ordered a carseat cover from etsy:

and I just ordered this today: a nursing cover and I'm super excited to try it out!I didn't want something too loud, I wanted it to look like I'm wearing a top!

THose are my favorite products.. what are yours?

Surviving the first few nights... days and weeks.

Landon's officially 2 weeks!! Yes we survived 2 weeks. I have no idea how people don't kill themselves or each other after just a few days, more so, how on earth do people go on to have 2...3..4 kids.

Now, I have a really good baby. I mean REALLY good baby. He doesn't really cry, he's pretty laid back. and he's pretty relaxed, yet the first few days after we were discharged from the hospital... I had an overwhelming feeling.

I assume its because he was 4 weeks early... and I didn't have much ready for him.

So here is my recipe for surviving the first few nights..

1. have a support system... which should include spouse, parents, cousins, aunts, friend.. neighbor.. just anyone that can come to make sure you don't blow your brains out. We didn't have anything set up for Landon in our room, so after we arrived home- My parents came over and put together our pack n play, moved some furniture around, helped us set up bottles, cook dinner for us, My parents were MY rock on our first night. Also, make sure if you're particular about how things are done, show your husband MONTHS & MONTHS (if not years) in advanced how to do stuff. My husband has been doing laundry and dishes for years so he naturally picked up how to clean, sterilize and prep bottles and the breast pump items. its VERY HELPFUL!

2. learn how to swaddle... swaddle that baby until its tight... first night with Landon, I was sOOOooOOo overwhelmed and tired that no matter how I swaddled him, he kept getting out... not to mention, We went through 20 different swaddle blankets to get him to sleep. he was a houdini when it came to getting out of the swaddle and he was the king to peeing all over us. Daddy's, please focus on changing diapers. We went through 1 pack of diapers the first night lol. Diaper fast & furious until you master that shit!

3. Be prepared to be thrown a curve ball and take plenty of notes and PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to what the nurses say!!! About 8 hours before we were discharged, we were informed that Landon wasn't getting any breast milk yet. our feeding plan went out the window when they made my husband a list of items to purchase before my discharge. we got a quick lesson on how to use our breast pump, which bottles to buy, which formula to buy, how to clean the pump items, how to clean bottles etc... I mean, I was so deliriously tired I feel blessed that my husband caught on quick. My poor husband's job was to do EVERYTHING and my job was to just breast feed him for 15 minutes on both sides, feed him 1 ounce of formula, pump for 15 minutes on both sides. talk about 1 hour of my life down the drain every 2 hours. Luckily after the second night home, My milk supply came in and he started to reject formula! woohoo!

4. try not to kill one another.. and embrace help. Our in-laws arrived a day after we came home from the hospital. they basically took over laundry, dishes, and went around fixing up the house and making it more handy for us. My Father in-law is a handy man. he really checked every inch of our house to help us move faster.. example: Installing a door stop in our garage so we can keep the door propped when we need too. My mother cooked meals for me EVERYDAY. which was super helpful. and my sister came by everyday the first week to help us function and mainly to hold her nephew while I napped.

5. get plenty of sleep... and NAP when baby NAPS. I've been hearing this statement for months. and its so TRUE. mid afternoon naps are very helpful because it helps me wake up in the middle of the night to feed my baby. without an afternoon nap, I start to function like a zombie. I get emotional, moody, want to stab people... etc.

So here is the fun part. Items that you will need (Maybe)...

we used our Medela Breast Pump from day 2 until our lactation consultant told me I could stop pumping. We received extra compartments for our pump at the hospital and it was very helpful! You can also rent one at the hospital and it cost $80 a month.. but after 3 months, you can already own the little portable pump!

Since we had to supplement 1oz of formula with every feeding, we opted for these Breastflow bottles. They're easier to clean than dr.Browns and they're "Slow flow" nipples so they work great to transition him from breast to bottle and back to breast. Also, when I started to actually pump milk, the medela bottles were also slow flow. Luckily, he is such an easy going guy, Bottles changes don't really bother him!

The Belly Bandit.. pretty amazing. between breast feeding and this little sucker, My belly went from Bulging to minimal in about 2 weeks! I still have some work to do, but I'll take all the help I can get! You want to get it true to size (from pre-birth). I got a small at first I couldn't close it, but then I realized, if I had someone to help me strap it in, it fit nicely. Now it closes all the way!

These are A MUST have if you're breast feeding... because before you know it, you've got 2 giant WATERMARKS on your tank top. before I got a chance to purchase these, I had to change my top 5-6 times a day. lol.

I love our Pack'n Play! Its the S1 by Safety 1st Satellite Premier Playard - Pegasus. It has a little night light and storage space. We opted for the pack'n play over a basinet.

Lastly, these swaddle blankets from aiden and anais are pretty awesome. We also have a more affordable version from summer infant. It functions just the same. Since we have dogs, we use it to lay out on the couch and stuff before we lay the baby down. it keeps him fur free, even though our pups are hypo-allergenic and they don't shed. it gives my parents peace of mind.

BTW- I love being a mommy!! he is my everything and now that he's here, I can't imagine life without him!

To Microwave or NOT to MICROWAVE...

After reading this article... I decided I had to share.. and I hope that everyone who reads this will spread the word!!

Below is a Science fair project presented by a girl in a secondary school in Sussex. In it she took filtered water and divided it into two parts.

The first part she heated to boiling in a pan on the stove, and the second part she heated to boiling in a microwave.

Then after cooling she used the water to water two identical plants to see if there would be any difference in the growth between the normal boiled water and the water boiled in a microwave.

She was thinking that the structure or energy of the water may be compromised by microwave.

As it turned out, even she was amazed at the difference, after the experiment which was repeated by her class mates a number of times and had the same result.

It has been known for some years that the problem with microwaved anything is not the radiation people used to worry about, it’s how it corrupts the DNA in the food so the body can not recognize it.

Microwaves don’t work different ways on different substances. Whatever you put into the microwave suffers the same destructive process. Microwaves agitate the molecules to move faster and faster. This movement causes friction which denatures the original make-up of the substance. It results in destroyed vitamins, minerals, proteins and generates the new stuff called radiolytic compounds, things that are not found in nature.

So the body wraps it in fat cells to protect itself from the dead food or it eliminates it fast. Think of all the Mothers heating up milk in these ‘Safe’ appliances. What about the nurse in Canada that warmed up blood for a transfusion patient and accidentally killed him when the blood went in dead. But the makers say it’s safe. But proof is in the pictures of living plants dying!!!

Ten Reasons to dispose off your Microwave Oven
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, one can conclude this article with the following:

1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term – permanent – brain damage by ‘shorting out’ electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].

2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.

4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.

5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumours]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in UK and America .

8). The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.

10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.
