I.O.U

Well I am alive.. And there's so much I need to update about..

His 6 month post
His first Christmas
Our flight with our rolling babes...
Stuff.. Stuff.. & more stuff..

Why is it taking so long?
Well I'm sitting ona farm in western Pennsylvania with no Internet, just lots of grass, woods, deer, good ol' all American people who look like Mr & Mrs Santa Claus.. I'm sure Landon assumes he's in the North Pole!

So I owe you all some Major updates!!! Hopefully before the New Year!

Baby Landon is 6 months

Well lets just say... he amazes me every single day. It seems like he's growing leaps and bounds and I love watching him develop into such an impressive human being!

Weight:

he won't be weighed until his next scheduled visit, but we're estimating 19-20 lbs. Most of my family has said he looks longer but not heavier... but when I hold him, it feels like a good 19+ lbs. :)

Health:
so far, so good. we're about to catch a plane to PA and we are crossing our fingers hoping we will avoid catching a cold. wish us luck!

Sleep:

we cannot complain.. we are sleeping very well! he's always been a good sleeper tho. This will be a huge test once we get to PA- I'm going to do my best to keep him on PA time. He takes a 6oz bottle before bed, goes into his crib with a sleep sack and a pacifier and has to self sooth. it usually takes about 5-10 minutes to fall asleep and lately, he's been rotating a lot in his sleep... in a circle. its funny to watch but difficult to keep track of him in the monitor!

clothes:

he fits in some 3-6 months in separates but mainly 6-12 month clothing. Dressing him has been super fun! EVERYONE complains about having nothing cute for boys but we dress landon from baby gap, old navy, carters, zara, h&m. hes such a mini GQ model. lol

diet: you enjoy your fingers.. toes.. and anything he can touch.. but with real food, he's still breastfeeding but we've introduced solids:
rice cereal
oatmeal
peas
green beans
avocado
zucchini
squash
sweet potatoes
carrots
prunes

he also enjoys holding his own food- so we've given him items to pick up like bread, green beans, peas, carrots and teething biscuits.

all solids are homemade organic food. he is funny about food.. he makes a funny face when eating but eats almost all his food!

development:

Rolling everywhere, sitting up unassisted, holding objects, petting dogs sitting in his shopping cart and high chair... he says "Hi" and waves hello.

He loves any toy that sings, dances, lights up. he likes pop up books and enjoys rolling on his huge ball.

Crying:

when tired or hungry. mainly when tired.

post partum:

I've noticed that I've lost more weight and I feel a lot skinner than before I got pregnant. I need to tone up because the 37 lbs I gained and the 40 I've lost is starting to show. I feel like my butt is getting droopy! looks like I'll be getting back on the insanity challenge!

Happy 1/2 year butterball!! I love you

Landon Meets Santa..

Last saturday, We took Landon to see Santa! I watched the 3 children in front of landon instantly panic when they looked at santa... and LANDON in general was SUPER tired and fussy...

My sister kept telling me that he was going to lose his mind.. and my husband was worried that he would puke breast milk all over santa... BUT I insisted... hesitantly insisted that I'm his mother, I knew what was best- and he would be fine.

man I was right. lol. he did awesome. SANTA was mesmerizing to him... HE WAS SOOOOOO good!! santa even talked to him and he stared at santa for a little big, smiled and touched santas fluffy beard! we assumed its because santa looked A LOT like his dog Leiah-Bear.

Afterwards, we had a few dads come over and asked us how we did it and tell us Landon was awesome. :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

HOW CUTE IS MY KID???? this photo was taken by my sister while we trimmed our christmas tree!!

This is my first Christmas as a mother and I am BEYOND excited to celebrate with Landon! We didn't grow up with a traditional all american Christmas, so I'm learning as I go. We started decorating the day after thanksgiving! Here we were Christmas tree shopping...

here is our tree all done up!

and our Star!

our stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

We got a Polar Express Train and Landon was obsessed!! Sometimes when he starts to fuss, we just sit him in front of the tree and turn on his train.. gives us a about 20 minutes of peace!

This is just the beginning of our christmas Extravaganza!! I'm so excited for it!

Peas Please!!

Well.. someone is ready to eat!!

I didn't think I would be the mom to make food, but then again, I didn't think I would be the mom to breastfeed either... Somehow, it happened, and I'm excited... SUPER excited to do it!

So I'm branching out with a new adventure.. making baby food! It will be trial an error- but here we go!

We started with EarthBest organic brown rice cereal- it instantly caused him to back up and have constipation- which then interrupted our potty training... btw, baby food takes baby poop to a whole different level! (baby steps.. baby steps!)

After a week, we took a break from eating "solids" and tried to get him back to a regular bathroom schedule!

At week 3, we tried EarthBest Organic Oatmeal.. which kept him regular and he loved it!!

now onto the next transition.. deciding what to start with. Some people say sweet potatoes, avocado, or bananas... I started with Peas... because I decided greens first.

and I decided to make it in bulk to freeze and feed... here we go!!

what you need:
- food processor
- 2 bags of frozen organic peas
- water (baby breeza delegates how much water to put in on its own)
- spatula
- food storage containers, ice cube maker, etc

Start with deciding which food processor to commit too...

we decided on the baby breeza! I did make my husband purchase the baby breeza, baby beba, and baby bullet.. then I sat there and opened it all- stared at it for a few days and really thought about the process and what I needed my food processor to do for me.. packed up all the others and returned them.

I wanted my food processor to be a 1 stop shop. the baby breeza- you throw in the veggies and just press a button and it steams, blends, and purees!! after that you just pour it in the ice cubes and freeze!

I poured 1 pack of frozen organic Peas into the processor, selected "Sweet Peas", pressed steam and blend, and walked away for 20 minutes...

I let the puree cool- poured it into some silicone ice cube makers and set them in the freezer to store... (side note: I bought these ice cube makers at william somoma- they are not 1oz cubes- which kinda bummed me out.. I will get these instead.

the next morning- I popped them out and threw them into a labeled ziplock bag- "sweet peas" and date. I plan on defrosting by throwing 1 cube into a little bowl and setting it in hot water to heat (we are a anti-microwave since blogging this study about the affects of microwaving foods: here

Soooo... Let him eat PEAS!!!

this face has no idea what's coming...

still has a smile because I'm sure he thinks he's getting oatmeal...

1 spoonful...

he didn't LOVE it- but he didn't HATE it either.. he took about 10 spoonfuls before losing interest!

NO MORE PEAS.. NO MORE pictures!! he was done.

check out our video of Landon eating peas. lol
