What Landon Wore

My little guy is getting so big lately! We are squeezing him into 6-12 month shorts, 12-18 month tops and size 5 shoes!

We came across a few American Apparel tops, which I love!! They're light weight which is great for summer, super soft and I love that they're solid. I'm a huge fan of non-graphic clothing.

I'm very uncertain of the "white socks & sneakers" look. I almost hate it! But this little guy has really sweaty feet and I need to figure out our socks situation!

Landon Is 14 Months

My little Monkey is growing up too fast. The other day, I looked at him and he looked like he has had a growth spurt! He looks so tall and cute. I love him SO SOOoooOo so MUCH!

Weight: We weighed him on the home scale and he weighed 22.5 lbs. (that's 2lbs since his 12 month check up). WOW.

Health: He's such a super healthy kid! Eats well, sleeps well, we are blessed!

Sleep: Oh sleep. Since weaning him he's  been acting pretty moody. He asks for BaBa from everyone. My mom, my aunt, his dad, my dad, his cousins.. he really misses his bottle but it's been 4 weeks since he's had one! Anyway,  without his night time bottle, he keeps waking up at 4 am asking to nurse.. If I nurse him, he will go back down until 6-7. So I backtracked a little bit. A few days ago, I started giving him warm almond milk at night. we started with 2oz for a few days, then 4, 5.. now 6oz. I might be jinxing myself but the last few days, he's been sleeping from 7:30-8am then has 1 nap a day (sometimes 2).

Social:  He is very social. With my mom in treatment for cancer, Landon's been visiting my aunt for about 7 hours every 21 days. She has 3 kids. The two younger ones are 7 & 10. Landon loves them. He has a little stranger anxiety when I drop him off but it only lasts about 5-10 minutes.

Diet:  well- he's been eating SO SO SO much since last month. Since we weaned him, he's really grown a huge appetite. I'm making him 3 meals a day and he eats what I eat, which is nice. Tons of fruits and veggies in his diet. We serve 2oz of milk with every meal. I also give him yogurt with regular cows milk as well.

Clothes: 12-18 months & size 4-4.5 shoe!!

Crying: only when I drop him off, it gets better after a few days. He does get very clingy and when I come to pick him up, he will quickly say "bye, bye bye" and wave good bye.

Likes: he likes balls, cars, push cars, his bikes, locks, doorbells, bath time, his kitchen.

Milestones-Climbing.. climbs on the couch and now we can't get him off the couch! We say a lot of, "get down" & "careful!!!"

words: Treat "tweeet" (for the dogs), hot dog "haw daw", leiah (our poodle) "yeayah" maddox (our yorkie) "dado", toilet paper "tee tee" for wiping when hes done peeing in the toilet, Eat "eee", Shoe, Socks "so", shirt "shhht", shorts "Shot", bird "Bur", Tree "Tee", hello "heyo", Bye "buh bye".. lots of words..

Dada, dog "dah", Ba (grandma), please "peaz", done, poo, help "hew", up "puh", water "wahwah", bottle "bah", milk "bah"...

Potty Training Landon at 13 Months

As some of you know- I started potty training Landon when he was about 11 weeks old. With encouragement from my aunts, I went full force. You can read about them HERE and HERE.

It's been a very interesting journey. I noticed within the first month that Landon had moved his bathroom habits towards his morning toilet time... after a few months, he adjusted and only peed in his diaper.

Around 6-7 months, when we introduced solids, we noticed another change. He started to only use the bathroom once a day... He would continue to pee in his diaper.. He also said "poo" every time he needed to go. I also noticed that he wouldn't go to the bathroom in public... he would always wait to go home. So in the early morning around 9:30 he would do business and any time we would go out and return, he would do business. lol.

early this week, we introduced underwear. He went 3 days before he had his first accident. I'm watching his tendencies and he needs to pee about every 20 minutes. Since he nurses in the morning, drinks about 9 oz of almond milk and 15 oz of water a day.. we have to run him to the bathroom every 20 minutes. Its a little exhausting since he's only 13 months.. we only keep him in underwear about 7-8 hours a day, diapers during nap time, bed time and when he leaves the house...

I would say, he's 80% potty trained. I don't think he will be fully potty trained for another 3-4 months, but I'm happy to start the process. He seems to enjoy underwear time.

He will grab his junk when he needs to go. I need a more efficient plan on how I need to get him completely potty trained. Right now, I'm in the process of looking for a good toilet seat.. it's like a toddler seat attached to the adult seat. I want to install it in our upstairs and downstairs bathroom.

how cute is he in underwear?? They don't make any smaller than 2T. I might order swim underwear, but they're expensive!

I'll make sure I keep updating- but I hope to have him fully potty trained at home by 15 months and only in diapers when we're out of the house. I also noticed that his diaper is super dry in the morning and we run him to the potty once he wakes up (around 6:30/ 7). I'll nurse him and put him back to sleep until 8.

I don't think I would do anything differently... because he's going regularly and he has a very consistent schedule. I haven't had any constipation issues with him so I'm very happy with our experience.

Teething Remedies: Amber Necklaces

Let's talk about teething.. I hear horror stories of drooling, fussiness, fevers, swollen gums.. Non-stop crying when teething starts. It's a bitch!

Around 4 months Landon started seriously teething. We wanted to utilize the "homeopathic" route. We wanted to avoid giving medicine and after talking to multiple mamas and our pediatrician, they recommended we try an Amber necklace.

Our ped suggested that we use the necklace around his ankle to avoid strangling and choking.

He encouraged us to try it out and let us know that teething starts around 3-4 months but the teeth actually pops through within a 72 hour window. Around then, if Landon needs Tylenol, I can give him some to ease his pain. (Which totally did when necessary)

So at first, my husband was super against this necklace. But after spending 6-7 hours alone with Landon without the necklace, I came home to my husband and son quietly sitting on the couch with his necklace on. :) that's how much we love this thing.. It has helped is survive 8 teeth & 2 molars!

I'm a huge fan of these necklace. I even wear one on my wrist. I recommend buying raw amber, unpolished necklaces in either harvest or lemonade.

Scarves in a Box

Saw it.. Pinned it.. Made it.. Ohhhh yea!!!

I wanted to make an easy activity for Landon. He has really good hand eye coordination so this was a great exercise for him!

I found some scarves at micheals craft store for $1 each. Stuffed them into an old wipes container.

And I watched him for 10-15 minutes...

Try it out!
He quickly figured out how to press the lid to open
He started pulling...

He used his feet to hold onto the box

There are 7 scarves total.. "Never ending!"

He would pull them out and toss it behind him.

Every scarf had his saying, "ooooh"

So easy and fun!

Toddler Meals: Dinners

Winner winner chicken dinner! We follow a "baby eats what we eat" rule in our house. There are a few exceptions but recently I noticed that Landon really enjoys eating. I think it has a lot to do with him weaning off of breast milk.

Overall, introducing food to him has been easy. There are hits & misses, but if he's not interested, I will reintroduce in every few days, he will usually give in and eat it anyways.

With summer here, we do a lot of grilling! We grill almost every night! Here are sons of our meals this week:

Option 1:

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cool time: 15-25 minutes

Grilled halibut (salt, pepper & lemon)
Grilled sweet potato (cinnamon & 2 tbsp water)
Wrap both separately in foil
cook sweet potatoes for 15 minutes on top rack first
Add fish & potato on bottom rack
grill 10 minutes, serve.

Brown rice trio: brown rice, quinoa, lentils & sweet potato

Cook all in rice cooker together... I make enough to last a few days!

Here is Landon tasting his option 1.. Yes, he ate it all..

Option 2:

Prep time: 15minutes
Cool time: 25-30 minutes

Grilled boneless short ribs..
In a large ziplock bag.. Fill bag with favorite seasoning, add 2oz pineapple juice 3 cloves of garlic.. Throw on the BBQ rack on low for 25 minutes... Delicious!

Grilled sweet potatoes with cinnamon
1 banana

Enjoying his option 2! He's very easy to feed!
